I have recently bought a Dell Spririon 560 Desktop with Windows 7 Home Primium. Whereas Audacity 1.2.6 worked perfectly in recording Lp's from a Lenco L-3866USB turntable to my previous PC (a Compaq Presario 5303EA), the new 1.3.x (Beta) fails at the exact moment when I plug-in the USB-cable in the PC, when all sound from the PC stops. Anybody with a tip? Thanks a lot.

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Windows7/Audacity
The USB cable must be connected, and the Lenco recognised by Windows before you launch Audacity.
Windows has a habit of passing ALL sound services to the USB device, which is why playback stops. To get round that problem, connect the USB turntable, then go into the Windows Control Panel (Start menu > Control Panel) then go to the "Sounds" section and enable the computer sound card for audio playback.
After you have done that, Launch Audacity.
