Someone has reported thee following problem to me and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

A college is trying to get its staff to use audacity. When they access and audio file from their network drive the two stereo tracks are slightly out of sync. This is not an issue if the files are initially moved to the same local disc where audacity is installed, however this is not always possible due to restrictions on storage on local machines

Audacity was not designed to be used over a network. Its operation depends on having immediate disk access, and the delays which a network will introduce can cause all kinds of problems.
