I can't select the mic jack (ATAPI) in recording setup using Windows Vista. Can't find input source on the mixer toolbar. Is 'Preferences' under 'Edit' the same thing?
Also, when I record I'm getting speaker output recorded plus mic input.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Built-in mic or ATAPI internal jack
i had to remove my mike. apparently the sound card plays back all sources at once. no way that i could find to change that. other sound cards and drivers may be able to do it.
atapi is for hard disks -- how do you attach a mike that way??
if audacity doesnt see it you need to make vista see it first. try start>settings>controlpanel>sound*
also >yoursoundcardname if it appears in the control panel ; and also anything else that has sound or music in its name.
if you plug the mike into the pc then vista should pop up a little yellow info balloon saying it saw that happen. can you see the mike using windows sound recorder??
pls provide FULL details of the system and how everything is connected and all the software options picked.
