export multiple to new folder
Hi, In Export Multiple I clicked "New Folder", But when I opened My Documents I have a new folder, and all my seperates tracks. Is there a way to export all my track to that folder? or must I drag and drop each one seperately? I am using Aud 1.3.10 on Window XP.
Thanks. Roy Windmill

Re: export multiple to new folder
First you should update Audacity. 1.3.10 has a known problem that can cause exported files to be the wrong length - typically when using "Export Multiple" based on labels, the exported files will be a few seconds too long. This has been fixed in Audacity 1.3.11
Regarding the problem you describe, there appears to be slight differences depending on the operating system, but the important thing in all cases is to ensure that the full address of the required export folder is shown in the "Export Location:" address box.
Here's how it works on my machine:
1) File menu > Export Multiple.
2) "Choose" button.
3) Navigate to the required folder.
4) To create a new folder, click the "Create Folder" button and enter a name for the folder.
5) Press RETURN. The full address is displayed at the top of the dialogue box.
6) Click the "Open" button.
7) Check that the "Export Location:" address box shows the full address of the required folder - if it does not, click on the "Choose" button again and select the required folder.
8) Select the other options as required and click on the "Export" button.

Re: export multiple to new folder
Hi Steve, Your advice re- New Folder worked fine. However, when I tried to play through the tracks in Windows Media Player, only the first 2 tracks of music played, all the others played only the first 2 or 3 bars and then stopped. I then opened Audacity and played through my recording , and all tracks played perfectly. Can you tell me how to solve this problem? I am using Audacity1.3.11 in WindowsXP, and burning to W.M.Player. Thanks. Roy Windmill

WMP is not my favourite software and certainly not a good tool for diagnosing problems. It has more ways of messing up your work than truck load of monkeys.
Try downloading Foobar2000 (it's free) and see if that plays the files correctly. http://www.foobar2000.org/
If you mean something else.... what?

Not sure exactly what you mean - do you mean that you are using WMP to burn CDs? If so, try CDBurnerXP (also free, and a very good CD burner) http://cdburnerxp.se/roy windmill wrote:and burning to W.M.Player

<<<we had a similar problem burnign cds>>>
The question wasn't about burning CDs. The problem happened when the music was playing in Windows Media.
Older CD burners had troubles with stability. Even if you used top quality, name brand, CD blanks, sometimes you had to tune the burn speed to keep all the different players happy. I have one Windows burner that will burn a CD at Maximum Speed and I can hear it screaming along, but it had about a 20% failure rate. One out of four CDs went under a cold beer. I re-tuned to 16x and all the errors on all the players I tried vanished.
At work, we went through multiple different makers of blank disks until we found a combination that would play all over the world.

Similar story with my DVD burner (Nero 9) - much lower failure rate when I choke back the burn speed.kozikowski wrote: ...I have one Windows burner that will burn a CD at Maximum Speed and I can hear it screaming along, but it had about a 20% failure rate. Re: export multiple to new folder
Was needing to choke back the speed on a Lite-On optical drive to cut down the failure rate. I was starting to wonder if the drive was beginning to wear out, but have switched to a different brand of CD (some cheap Maxell's) and now almost at the bottom of a tub of 100 with zero failures at full speed.
The combination of CD and drive still makes a difference.

Re: export multiple to new folder
Hi Steve. How do I re-tune to 16x? Yes, I was trying to burn to C.D. using W.M.Player. But I will give "C.D burnerxp/se a try. Thanks. Roy Windmill
Re: export multiple to new folder
I wasn't sure what you meant there, but I see you are referring to Koz's comment.roy windmill wrote:How do I re-tune to 16x?
He means changing the CD burn speed. WMP probably does not give you the option.
For CDBurnerXP, see here: http://cdburnerxp.se/help/References/burnoptions
