Classic Reverb in 1.3 (Beta)

Hello! Does anyone know how to install the older Classic Reverb in the new Audacity 1.3? I have tried to copy it from my old Audacity, and it will not show under effects. I am using the Kjaerhus Classic Reverb, but that one takes so long for the effect to go in. I love the classic rever on the older Audacity, but cannot get it to go it. If anyone knows how to do this, your help is appreciateted. You can post a reply, or email me at riech at mycomputerlady dot net. Thanks!

Audacity 1.3.11 comes with G-Verb pre-installed.
As far as I know there has never been a version of Audacity that was distributed with "Classic Reverb".

You are right...I had to download some plug-ins and it came in, one of the plug-ins. I did see the Gverb, but I really liked the classic reverb in the older version. When I tried to do the same thing that I did from 1.2, in 1.3 and installed the classic reverb, it does show that it is there in the plug-ins folder, but when I click on effects, it does not show there. Strange!!! Any help is appreciated!

To save typing everything twice I've deleted the duplicate post (I can move this topic later if it fits better as a "feature request).

Is "Classic Reverb a free VST effect? Can you post a link to where to get it from and I'll see if I can get it working.

Is there a substantive difference in reverbs or is it mostly a matter of settings and application?

There are a lot of different reverb effects and they can vary in subtle or very obvious ways from each other. Just as different rooms have different ambiance, so different reverbs have different characters. Depending on what you are doing this may or may not be important. Can you tell the difference between the sound of footsteps on a wooden floor in a corridor with brick walls, from footsteps on a wooden floor in a corridor with plaster walls? If so, then which reverb you use will probably be important.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you, Steve. I have copied the file to my website and here is the link:

http://www.flaming-point.com/Classic%20Reverb.dll

I just copied and pasted it into the Program File (x86), Audacity and then Plug -ins and it works perfectly on version 1.2. But following the same steps on 1.3, it does not work. Thanks again. Also if you want to email me directly my email address is

THANKS!

I would highly recommend not posting your e-mail address on any public forums unless you want to be plagued by spam forever.

Did you set Audacity to "Rescan" for plug-ins? (Edit menu > Preferences > Effects).
You need to do that, then restart Audacity.

Classic Reverb should be listed in the Effects menu as "Kjaerhus Audio: Classic Reverb..."

It works nicely :)

Unfortunately it seems that the Kjaerhus Audio web site is now defunct, but their "Classic" effects are still available through free software distributors such as http://www.brothersoft.com/publisher/kj ... audio.html

Hello again! Yes I have that one, the KJHAESURUS--something like that-- one, but when I use it, it takes SO LONG to apply the effect. For instance, if I have a 30 minute recording, it takes about 24 minutes to apply the effect! I know it is not my computer, because I have a pretty fast one. It is a DUAL Core, 3.0, with 6 GB of RAM. For the meantime, I went back to 1.2, because its classic reverb takes seconds. Any more suggestions? Also thanks for telling me about the email problem. I took my email address off.

Exactly which version of Audacity 1.3 do you have? (look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity")
I'm aware that some previous versions of Audacity 1.3.x ran effects very slowly, but I don't think there should be a problem with Audacity 1.3.12
