Ogg quality
Please help me with this:
Where has the option to choose the output Ogg quality gone? In the 1.2.6. release, it is under preferences > File Format > OGG Export Setup. But in the beta, this menu has vanished!

Re: Ogg quality
Most of the Export options have been moved to the actual export step instead of Preferences.

Re: Ogg quality
Unfortunately, ExportOgg has no option.
Re: Ogg quality
When you get to the Export dialogue and you have selected Ogg as the export format, click on the "Options" button and a slider will pop up. The default is 5.

Re: Ogg quality
Which Export dialogue do you mean? Could you provide a screenshot, please?
For example, when I add an ExportOgg command in a chain, its "Edit parameters" button is grayed out. Where can I set Export parameters?

Re: Ogg quality
When you use "Chains", the Ogg compression settings will be whatever was used last. If it is a fresh Audacity installation and Ogg Export has never been used the default is "5".

Re: Ogg quality
Thanks, I could figure it out with your screen shot. It is kind of awkward to have an option hidden inside a Windows XP file explorer dialogue. Maybe this is because this is still a beta version of Audacity. However, in the future version, I suggest that the Audacity developers make this setting globally accessible, and make it available in a chain step in place of the grayed-out "Edit parameters" button (see my previous screen shot): just make the "Edit parameters" button active and make it control the output quality level.
Re: Ogg quality
It is more easily accessed there than when it was hidden away in Preferences, or at least it is when you are doing a normal "Export". The exception is when chains are used and I agree it would be much better if the quality setting was available as a parameter in Chains. There have been a lot of requests for the Chains feature to be developed more fully but to date its functionality remains quite basic. Hopefully it will be developed further in the future.ppay wrote:It is kind of awkward to have an option hidden inside a Windows XP file explorer dialogue.

Re: Ogg quality
Great answer, thanks!
To be frank, being new to Audacity, I assumed that chain-like features were at the core of the basic version. I was surprised to see that it was just an under-development part of the beta version. I hope that chains will get more attention in the near future.
