I have a master rhythm track that I've recorded. Then I have a series of "takes" tracks for the soloists. I then align all the tracks so that they are in sync. Now if I have a bad section on one of the solo tracks, I want to be able to easily use one of the other tracks for whatever time frame I have selected.

To do this, I have to note the start and stop times of my "bad section", then go to a good track, select the noted start and end times, copy, go back to the bad track, select the bad section again, then paste. Is there any way to memorize the selection times so that I can easily select the same timeslice in another track? Or is there a better way to cut and paste together a good final recording from multiple takes? I've searched for a tutorial on this without any luck.

[EDIT:] I've found that using the "Region Save" and "Region Restore" under the EDIT menu can simplify the selections somewhat (It'd be nice if you could have multiple named regions), but I still feel there is some better way to do this.

If you have multiple tracks above/below each other and you have made a selection you can use the up/down keys to move focus from one track to the next. The selection can be toggled on/off with the Enter key.

It can sometimes be useful to make "splits" in a track (Ctrl+I) - these can be joined back together later (if required) by clicking on the split.

There are also "labels" (Ctrl+B)
