Problems with Windows 7

Hey there newcomer here but I have a few issues with the audacity file not working. Ok my problem is that I installed the beta version which is approved for windows 7, I then installed the lame MP3 encoder and the FFMpeg. ok so i set their destination, I then went to volume mixer and enabled the stereo Mix and went and made sure it was the same on the Audacity player but when I try to record its just flatlined. I hear the sound I want to record from the monitor but is not catching the sound to record. Any Ideas what it might be

I did waxcylinder, I have read that thread along with other into different things that I could change and nothing. I have noticed that on the volume mixer the stereo mix Realtek high definition slider doesnt move at all

You mean that you enabled it in the Windows Control Panel? (as described here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ng_devices )

Did you also (in the Windows Control Panel) set Stereo Mix as the default recording device (green tick on the icon) and make sure its input volume is turned up? (To set the volume, click the Properties button bottom right, then the Levels tab, move the volume slider to right, and click OK).

stereo mix is set to default device (green checkmark beside it), volume is set to 100%

You beauty, great set of images - I think I see the problem.

Your playback is set to an NVidia device and your recording is set to a RealTek device. My guess is that these are physically separate devices, so while the RealTek is set to record all the sounds that are playing (through the RealTek sound card), you are not actually playing any sounds through it - your output has been diverted to the NVidia device and is not reaching the RealTek device.

On the first screen, (Sound > Playback) are there any hidden, Disabled devices? (Try right clicking on that screen)?

How do you listen to sound? What speakers are you using and where are they plugged in? (I'm trying to work out what that NVidia device is).

Do you have any speakers that you can connect to the RealTek Speaker Out?

No there are no hidden devices. I did do what you told me to check if they are hidden but everything is showing.

The way that I have my computer setup is that my tower is connected via HDMI cable to my TV. That is the only connection going to if for sound and I hear it from my tvs speakers

And unfortunately I have no speakers that i can connect to the speaker output
