Hi,
I have the latest beta version of Audacity. All my sound drivers are 64 bit, as I am running a 64 bit system. My speakers work fine. But I can't get any sound when I am recording. Is this normal or is something wrong? I thought I should be able to hear what I am recording, so I can hear when the song is over and know when to stop recording. I do get sound on playback. Any help would be appreciated. Edited to Add that I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Also, my audio output setting in Audacity is correct.

What are you recording from? Is it a USB device by any chance?

No, it's not a USB device. It's my boombox connected to my computer with a cable.

Go to Edit > Preferences > Recording and check the box that says Software Playthrough ...
