Audacity 1.2.6 dies on Quad Core AMD processor

Post by serverguy » Wed Feb 03, 2010 4:59 am

C++ debugger is pointing its little yellow arrow here:

0040B7EC mov ebp,dword ptr [eax+4]

I get an exception (which I can't see now) window something like 0xC00000005

This is not my first installation nor on the first computer but this computer is new and am loading up the stuff I like to use for the first time on it. This error is from an initial installation on WinXP with all the latest service updates and a quad core AMD processor. No other application errors have been seen.

When Audacity 1.2.6 was written, Quad core was science fiction. Have a go with the latest 1.3.x version of Audacity and see if that behaves better.

That did it. I had no idea it was really a quad code problem so did not try the beta.

1.3.11 did it. Ship it!
