Line in/ line out...

Please help a complete technology moron!
I want to get my large vinyl colection on to my laptop (dell vostro 1720)
my turntable leads are connected into the phono jacks on the amplifier
I have leads from the "line out" into the mic input of my laptop
To my utter shame, I'm unsure what to set my amplifier to to send the sound to my laptop...there are 3 settings...tuner, phono and "AUX/TAPE 2/COPY 2>1" which I assume is used with the seperate "Tape 1 MONITOR" switch?
Also, the adjuster for the recording level input on the mixer toolbar will not move under any circumstances, and the "Master Volume" toggle which in the tutorial is shown beside the adjuster is absent.
Any help will be greatfully received.
