Ok, My hard drive recently was destroyed so I had to switch to a different computer.
I downloaded Audacity on the official site, and when I went to record, the recording bar (thats red) just stays at the beginning kind of glitching and blinking.
I used Audacity almost everyday on my Old computer and never had any problems.
I un-installed and re-installed it, and still nothing.
So I tried about 4 different versions from old to new and all did the same thing.
Anyone have a clue whats wrong?
Audacity won't record anything?

By source do you mean what am I recording?
I used to use "Stereomix" but the newer versions don't have that option.
How connected to the computer? I don't understand that question honestly.
I have a windows XP, Desktop.

Re: Audacity won't record anything?
Yes that is what I meant - I assume that you are trying to record from the internet or suchlike. And yes manufacturers do seem to be removing this option from computers - presumably in an attempt to prevent piracy. There is an article in the Wiki that may help you: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recor ... e_computerTheSkiesDie wrote:By source do you mean what am I recording?

and this thread in the Wiki: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 94&p=17870
As you did not say what you were recording from, it could have been an external turntable, a cassette deck or a radio - in which case you would have had some wires and olugs connecting this to yout PC - as you are trying to record what is playing on the PC, then this does not apply (so I see why my question confused youTheSkiesDie wrote:How connected to the computer? If all else fails you should be able to work around this by purchasing one of the external USB soundcards which we know work well with Audacity. See this sticky thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477
