max. filesize?

I wouldn't have thought Windows would be able to play them but I've never tried. The machine would have to be using NTFS file system as FAT has a 4GB limit for any type of file.

i used the crunchbang linux #! live CD... http://crunchbanglinux.org/
as crunchbang has audacity included i didn't need to install anything on this vista[sic!]-machine...

the filesize is 4GB now and it does play in windows [winamp].
it was even possible to do the tagging in windows [which is quite more fun than on linux].

There's an application for Linux called "EasyTAG" which makes it more fun.

i tried easytag intensively [headphonica is a netlabel with 70+ releases so far] but there are some very important & useful features missing.
so i have mp3tag [freeware] under wine... > http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
interestingly the only [!] software i have installed under wine...

I'm OK with the links, but I'll not be downloading the 4GB file just yet because I'm a bit short on disk space.
Nice artwork. There's not much room to put a credit for Audacity, but perhaps you could include one on your web site. This is not a requirement, but might be a nice idea - perhaps something next to the flac download link such as "flac file created with Audacity running in CrunchBang Linux Live"

It was just a thought - I always think it's a good thing to give credit to open source, especially when it has provided a means to achieve something that would have been difficult, prohibitively expensive, or impossible to do without it. I notice that you have used ogg, flac, audacity, Linux and possibly a lot more free open source software.
You could be right about the credit as it is now being of little relevance, but I was just suggesting that open source software may deserve some credit somewhere.

nevertheless, the "normal folks" [we're in the windows-topics here, right? -> right!] out there do not even know there's something like flac, you know?
with reading this thread they get to know that flac can do what even wav can't.

oh, there's so much work to do...
