Recording Roland V-Drums in Audacity... Help!

I am attempting to record Roland V-Drums through the microphone/line-in jack on a Dell laptop using a stereo headphone-to-headphone cable.

I am running Vista and using the 1.3.10 Beta version of Audacity.

When I plug the cable in I am prompted to choose line in or microphone. Neither setting produces any sound coming from the drums.

Any suggestions?

If the V-Drum has a "line output" as well as a "headphone output" you should use the line output connection.
When you plug into the computer select "Line".

The exact set-up for Windows depend on which version of Windows.
The set-up is basically the same as recording from a cassette player: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Trans ... uter_or_CD

Thanks for the help.

It ended up being the audio driver. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the new one from Dell's website.

Thanks again!
