Audacity Forum

When I try to record a track over an instrumental, the recording skips and sounds distorted. This happens randomly throughout a live recording and makes it impossible to finish a track. I have been using Audacity for about a month with no problems. This just happened out of nowhere. HELP PLEASE!

Note: using windows 7, USB Mic

Check that "Software Playthrough" is off (Transport menu)
Try rebooting.
Check that Windows Update is not running.
Check that other updates are not happening (anti-virus, firewall, Windows Defender.....)
