How are you monitoring the recording?
Is your Line6 using USB2 drivers? Are the drivers up to date?
Do you have any other USB devices attached?

You can get that by having difficult USB connections. If you have a connection that's just hanging on buy thin threads, the music can succeed or fail with humidity of the room and whether or not it's Thursday.
Unplug and replug each USB connection two or three times and you may need to restart the computer if you do that.

I have been using Audacity and Line 6 UX2 toneport. I am having the exact same problem with white noise. I think its because I have to turn the gain up pretty high to get a reasonably loud sound despite the fact everything everywhere is turned up and phantom power boosts etc are being used. At a low volume the white noise is unhearable and If it could be louder and keep the sound quality it would be great. I am trying Audacity beta this evening and will let you know how I get on.
