....I recently installed Audacity 1.3.x (Beta) on my new pc with a Windows 7 OS....I tried recording and the first three seconds record fine but after that it sounds like it's going through a flanger of some type....I have all my effects turned off and am sending a dry signal...also, when I go to choose an input on the mixer bar I can't there's only four choices, not like audacity 1.2.6 where there was a choice of CD, microphone, stereo, mono, etc....what am I doing wrong?

Check that you do not have "software playthrough" selected (Transport menu).

Was that also on the same computer with Windows 7?

yes it was on the one with the WIndows 7

I don't know what it tis but I can record drum loops and keyboard parts but for some reason, If I record some didjeridoo, the first 3-4 seconds come out fine then after that the signal sounds like it's all flanged out our something,what am I doing wrong? I will post a youtube video demonstrating to clarify

That is terrific
It's the most dramatic demonstration of "Noise Cancellation" that I've ever seen.

Somewhere in your sound card settings there should be a switch or selection box that allows you switch on/off the noise cancellation. It may be called something different (echo cancellation? noise reduction? ...) so you'll have to have a good look through and switch off all effects so that you can get a "straight" recording.

What is happening is that because Your sound card/Windows sees a constant drone (from the didj) it assumes that it is background noise and is doing a really good job of cutting it out. You have no doubt noticed that when there is a sudden change to the drone (when you take a breath), the sound comes back briefly before it is again cancelled out.

soI tried to adjust the device settings, updating the drivers, rolling back the drivers and I still can't record how I want to.....there's no button to click on that says "noise reduction, cancellation or anything like that....so what do I do?

If there is no setting for it then you've got a problem. I've seen laptops where there is no setting for it in the actual sound cards interface (from the icon near the time/date) but there has been one hidden away in the Control Panel. Hopefully it is similar on your computer and you will discover it lurking in a dark corner.

By the way, what sort of sound card do you have.

don't know what I did or didn't do but it's recording now....
