Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

I have registered on-line and have been provided a registration number (code). However, I cannot enter it into the form, that appears as the program is opened, as I am advised I must open the program as the administrator. I am logged onto the computer as the administrator. The program is counting down the days that I can still use it. My system is Windows Vista. Please advise. Thank you.

How sure are you that you're using Audacity Sound Editor? Help > About.

You may have gotten bamboozled into buying AVS Editor or one of the other cost based programs. There is one Audacity supplier that fools you into downloading AVS instead if you're not paying strict attention.

Audacity is free. Totally. Download it, install it, and use it. No extra steps into authorization codes and license fees.

There is also one site selling Audacity as a slightly different program.

I have the free Audacity software and it is OK. The one I'm having trouble with is "Pyro - Audio Creator LE by Cakewalk. It was also provided free by the supplier of my turntable, Audio-technica. I had no trouble using it; however, it has a countdown going that will preclude my use in 10 days unless I complete this form. I am left hanging on the phone when I try to contact Cakewalk. Don

Sorry but this forum only deals with Audacity issues - unfortunately you will need to persist with Cakewalk to resolve issues with their software.

BTW what are you needing to do with Pyro that you can't do with Audacity? The only key thing that I can see from looking at the Pyro specs is CD burning - but there is plenty of other s/w available to do this - in fact most PCs that have a CD recorder normally come bundled with at least one CD burner s/w package.

Sorry we can't help more,

WC
