Hi
Since it has happened several times, it is reproducible, but I haven't found the right trigger...
I thought I had it today... but actually no....not this time!

Re: Save as
What is this all about? Isn't it the bug in 1.3.9 that is fixed in 1.3.10 where silent audio in the project causes the problem? That bug has nothing to do with file names. Bugs where export multiple in Audacity 1.2 could give false "disk full" messages are fixed. If you enter a system-illegal character in Export Multiple in recent 1.3 versions you will get a dialogue asking you to correct the illegal character.
To work around a problem in 1.3.9 where you get "disk full" when saving a project:
* Edit > Select All
* Edit > Copy
* File > New
* Edit > Paste, then save that project.
If you update to the latest Beta version (1.3.10):
http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows
you won't get this problem (for reasons of the project containing silence). BUT if you want to export partial selections (File > Export Selection or File > Export Multiple) 1.3.10 has another bug that rounds exported files to the nearest five seconds. So if you need Export Selection and Export Multiple, use the Nightly Builds (1.3.11 Alpha) , which won't have this bug or the disk full bug:
On Windows:
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/audacity- ... -alpha.zip
To use that, extract the contents of the zip to a new folder and double-click audacity.exe from that new folder to launch it. It will not affect any installation of 1.3.9 or .10 you may have.
On Mac:
http://www.audacity.homerow.net/index.php?dir=mac%2F
Please take the build from the bottom of the list.
If you are not already doing so, please subscribe to our announcements mailing list at the bottom of our home page:
http://audacityteam.org/#announce
To subscribe, enter your e-mail address and click "Add". You will then receive occasional e-mails from us when we release new versions of Audacity.
Moderators: I think it's a mistake to send people to 1.3.9 due to the partial selections problem because they will run into this disk full problem. Please send them to the Nightly Builds. These should have been released as 1.3.11 Beta a few days ago IMHO, but this hasn't happened yet.

Re: Save as
Yes Gale, but the project I was trying to Save and Save As yesterday was a simple stereo pair recorded off-air from FM BBC R4 with no silent Audio in the project, just trimmed to the actual start & end of the programme and then Saved (or not Saved).Gale Andrews wrote:What is this all about? I've just recorded the same programme today from R4 and of course this time it Saved ok - and I also Saved As under a different project name - and that saved ok too
And IMHO too, as you know ...Gale Andrews wrote: ... Nightly Builds. These should have been released as 1.3.11 Beta a few days ago IMHO, but this hasn't happened yet.

Re: Save as
If you had tried copying / pasting to a new project and that had enabled you to save, then it would have showed it as the same problem. Anyway, we are only interested in the present, so there is no point trying to find ways of reproducing the problem in 1.3.9, only in 1.3.10 + (if it is actually still there)...waxcylinder wrote:Yes Gale, but the project I was trying to Save and Save As yesterday was a simple stereo pair recorded off-air from FM BBC R4 with no silent Audio in the project, just trimmed to the actual start & end of the programme and then Saved (or not Saved).Gale Andrews wrote:What is this all about?
