Please start a new topic, so we can be sure what version of Audacity you are using. Please give a good problem description ("didn't work" doesn't let us diagnose the problem). If you are using the current 1.3.10 Beta, read this:glowworm2720011 wrote:I need to convert the wave to an MP-3 file and Audacity won't let me do it without going to a "LAME_enc.dll ..and when I downloaded that, that didn't work either.
In a word, "quality".glowworm2720011 wrote: WHY does Audacity ONLY record things in "WAVE?"
See if you can get lame_enc.dll to work first. If not, export as WAV and convert to MP3 in iTunes or SUPER:glowworm2720011 wrote: What other recording device can I download that records in Mp-3's?
That will not work as you have previously had Audacity 1.2.6 installed.Keithr wrote:-deleted the config file
Yes, that'll be it. Once Audacity knows where there is a compatible version of Lame, it writes down where it is in the audacity.cfg file. Uninstalling Audacity does not remove the audacity.cfg file, so when you install a new version of Audacity it knows straight away where to find Lame.Keithr wrote:I tried the method suggested by stevethefiddle 24/12/09 using the zip version of lame, and got it to work on my 1.3.10 install. Could this be the reason why my 1.3.11 install is now working??
That's the important bit. If you've got the 3.98.2 version and it is working, no other action is necessary.Keithr wrote:both 3.98.2
No, and this is extremely common with other programs also.Keithr wrote:Surely, if you uninstall Audacity, then the audacity.cfg file goes with all the rest of the application?
