I use audacity to chop audio files up into shorter segments. I do this by selecting from the beginning to a certain point, then choosing EXPORT SELECTION (under file menu), and repeating this process to chop an hour or so of audio up into tracks of a few minutes each.
I am finding that the saved segments often have a few seconds of audio added on to the end - ie the file being created by export has an end point several seconds past the one I chose. There is no problem with the beginning of tracks - so the extra seconds would appear (wrongly) and the end of one track and then again at the start of the next one.
I didn't seem to have this problem before 1.3.10 beta - so is this a problem with me or with Audacity?
adds several seconds

Yes, this is a known bug in 1.3.10 - files exported with Export Selection or Export Multiple are rounded up to the nearest 5 seconds.

Hi, Thanks - downloading 1.3.11 seems to have solved the problem.

I am having the same problem as the fellow you answered with this response. I downloaded the file linked to "unicode release" under the windows binaries section and opened as instructed on the page and still have the extra time added to the end of the files.billw58 wrote:Yes, this is a known bug in 1.3.10 - files exported with Export Selection or Export Multiple are rounded up to the nearest 5 seconds.

p.s. when I opened the 'about audacity' under help it still says it is 1.3.10, am I not downloading the correct file?

Re: adds several seconds
When I hover my mouse over the windows unicode link on that page I see a link to 1.3.11-alpha.

You probably have downloaded the correct file but not "installed" it correctly.aum_shinrikyo wrote:p.s. when I opened the 'about audacity' under help it still says it is 1.3.10, am I not downloading the correct file?
Actually, it doesn't need "installing" - just extract the contents of the file somewhere on your computer, then make a Desktop shortcut to the audacity.exe file that is in the extracted folder. When you launch Audacity from that shortcut and check Help it should say "Audacity 1.3.11 alpha (Unicode)" or something like that.

Re: adds several seconds
That is how I had done it the first time. I did not make a shortcut though I opened directly from the program in the folder. I re-downloaded though, and the .11 version has worked perfectly.stevethefiddle wrote:You probably have downloaded the correct file but not "installed" it correctly.
