I have audacity the user friendly version as well as unicode 1.3.
I recently recorded audio sermon and apparently used the 1.3 which I have not been using in the past.
Upon opening the file I have a message pop up which says this file was saved using 1.3.5 and you are using 1.2.6 you need to update to a newer version to open this file.
I went to audacity to download any update for the unicode and it appeared to have done so although upon opening, the same message still appears.
Can I retrieve thefile and save to the standard audacity? Or is there another option for retrieving this 28 minute sermon???
Thank you, doug

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: file saved 1.3.5 using 1.2.6 cannot open need to update
Audacity 1.3.5 is an old beta version of Audacity and 1.2.6 is an even older "stable" version. With newer computers and newer software, the ancient 1.2.6 version is showing its age rather badly. I recommend that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.11 which is available here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds
This is the closest thing currently available to the new Audacity 2.0 version which will hopefully be released soon.
Audacity 1.3.11 can open projects from 1.2.6 and earlier versions of 1.3.x
1.2.6 cannot open any 1.3.x projects and will not be able to open Audacity 2.0 projects.
Audacity 1.3.11 projects will be compatible with Audacity 2.0
