I'm using version 1.3.10 Beta and have recorded about 9 overdub tracks and then used a label track to notate where verses start / solos, fade-in / fade-out's etc.

When about ready to bounce it down, then I got rid of about 4 bars of click that precedes the pickup into the 1st verse and the added stuff beyond the fade-out at the end of the song. Selecting everything as a column and then deleting it. However, the Label track even though it was included in the selection, didn't shorten (truncate) at either end so now it no longer lines up with the tracks that it was supposed to label.

Bug?

Yes this appears to be a bug - it certainly behave differently in 1.3.9 and earlier 1.3.x versions (I just ran some tests).

It may be down to a feature which was introduced in the earlier 1.3 versions which enabled you to "link" a set of tracks, including a label track. But the developers struggled to make it function correctly - so it was temporarily removed for 1.3.10

On previous versions I achieved the result you want, not by using the Link function - but instead draged and clicked with the cursor to select the same time interval in all the tracks and the label tracks and the pressing CTRL+K or Delete

I will alert the developers to this.

BTW note that there is another known bug introduced in 1.3.10 whereby on multiple export it rounds up the track length to the next 5-second boundary thus including unwanted audio.

Yes, from 1.3.10 onwards the "linked audio and label tracks" feature is not available until a future Beta version because it is too buggy, especially for the cases where only some of a number of tracks are selected. This is stated in the Release Notes for 1.3.10:

Retaining a limited linking feature that only applies to all tracks in a group (or only works with a group containing one audio track) was a possibility but would have taken more time.

In old Betas before linking was introduced, yes. Maybe when we switch linking on again, it should still be possible when user has linking off to select in front of a label track (only), and move the label backwards by deleting the region. However that does nothing for the case where you want to insert in front of a label, so isn't real linking.

From 1.3.11 Beta (expected on or soon after January 1st 2010), it will be possible to apply timeline changing effects to label tracks even when linking is off. So as a workaround to make labels move when you delete audio, you can apply an extreme positive speed change like 10000000% to the region you want to delete. Make sure you hold SHIFT then down arrow so as to include the label track in the selection before applying the effect.

This will be fixed in 1.3.11 Beta. Both that fix and applying timeline changing effects to label tracks are also in the Nightly Builds:
