Need Help Recording From Vinyl

Post by Rufio1617 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 6:18 am

I recently got the ION TTUSB Turntable and am in the process of transferring old records into MP3 format. I have a very big problem though when recording from the turntable the sound that comes into Audacity is very high with voice and other sound very distorted. I've tried different cables and different records and they are all coming in very loud. When i lower the volume input from the program it just lowers the volume, but the distortion is still there. Is there a way to clean this up? Or is the problem with the player? I've played it through the AV cables provided through my receiver and it sounds great, but through the computer it's coming out downright too loud. Thanks for the help!!

Have a look under the turntable and see if it has a volume control (some have, but it is inconveniently located on the bottom)
