recording devices?

I recently bought a new computer with windows 7 home premium on it and have been unable to record data. When i go into Edit -> Preferences-> Devices-> Recording-> it is listing that "no devices can be found". Is there something i need to do to fix this? I would appreciate any help.

What are you trying to record? Specifically. Your goal changes what we tell you a lot.

I want to record youTube.
I want to record my turntable.
I want to record my voice.

They are songs from one of my friends myspace accounts. They create their own music but the files are too large for him to send me.

Thanks I got the program to work. My recording device was disabled.
