Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Project Rates

Post by Joey Harun » Thu Dec 10, 2009 5:35 pm

I used to be using version 1.2.6 then i updated to 1.3.9 and now 1.3.10.
The problem is I used to record in 48000hz in the version 1.2.6 but now I cant in this new version. Problem only on the 48000hz but others work fine.
Cheers

What do you mean "you can't"? Do you mean that you get an error message, or do you mean that you can't find where to set the recording sample rate?

Does your sound card support 48000?

What I mean is the program cant do any recording at the rate of 48000Hz in the 1.3.9 and .10 version.
but other project rates works fine.
I do like the quality of 48000Hz rate though ...... 8-)
There is no error message and I'm using SB Live! Wave soundcard which of course can accept 48000Hz.
The Audacity 1.2.6 can do record with that rate though but I do like the look and more stuff on the newer version.

Thanks.
No. Dont need to change the options in the devices preferences cos all other project rates works well, just only the 48000Hz doesnt.
Why dont you give it a try and record at 48000Hz.

Anyway ,Ive found one solution.
Record in 96000Hz, and then export it to mp3 format in 48000Hz sampling rate.
It sound crisps!
8-)

Thank You.

Thanks.
As i said earlier, my hardware is ok n fine, cos all the rate works fine with the older audacity 1.2.6 version but not this newer version at 48kHz.
Anyway...I'll just do what im doing now...record in 96kHz and export in 48kHz.

Ill just wait for the stable version later as this is still in beta.

Thanks for your support and consideration.
Cheers

I work in a video shop and do all my work at 48000. Hasn't failed yet.

What actually happens? 48000 isn't available in Audacity Preferences? Is it gray? Does Audacity refuse to record at 48000 when you try? Get detailed. We live on detail.

You know that Audacity will force a project rate change when you try to import a sound clip at a different rate? If you try to record at microphone at 48000 after you import a sound clip at 44100, I think 48000 stops and whole world is now 44100.
