i have had massive problems since recovering unsaved files. i recorded 6 hours of live preformance, and have managed to import (via raw files) a large chunk of this. i now have rows and rows of 6 second tracks that i need to combine. my question is there a quick way of doing this? and the cut and paste way i am currently using doesn't have any sound when i play back????

If you haven't moved things around too much, there are some very nice crash recovery tools.
Crash Recovery

It's borderline impossible to do this by hand as the snippets aren't always in chronological order and they go left-right-left-right.

Next time you try this, please note that Audacity always does everything internally uncompressed, so the show may be 120MB on your iPod, but during the performance, it's 700MB per hour plus housekeeping and safety room. If you're on a Windows PC, the drive space has to be perfectly clean, error free, and defragmented. At no time should the hard drive go over about 85% full.
So a six hour show will be an easy 4.2GB of work. Triple that if you need to do production. Plus safety that's about 15GB of perfect, clear, fast drive space. Did we just discover why your show crashed?
If you're short of hard drive space (normally lethal) the crash recovery tools will not work.
