still clipping??

basically even when i turn the input down its still clipping, infact the clipping never changes it just squares off the waves, when i click on veiw i cant moniter the clipping by turning the red lines on, i think theres an envelope that been set because when i click the envelope tool the line is right where the clipping occurs?? any help much appreciated
