Audacity Forum

I just downloaded Audacity a few minutes ago wanted to record a song. I clicked on the record button and I got this message... "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." Any help would be appreaciated on knowing how to fix this problem.

If you are on Vista/Win7 you must first ensure that you have a recording device enabled. See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ng_devices

Then go to:
Edit menu > Preferences > Devices
Set the recording and playback devices to match your hardware.
