Saving a file with a reduced bit rate from the original

Post by thebiggfella » Wed Nov 25, 2009 11:47 am

Hopefully this will be a simple one. I want to reduce the bit rate of an mp3 file that I'm trying to save from 128kbps to 64 kbps so that the voice file would be small enough to email. I can see how to change to the project rate (Hz) but not the bit rate. I can only seem to save it at 128kbps

How do I save the file at 64kbps? Thanks. Glynn.

In 1.3.x when you click File > Export you get the export dialog box. The Save as Type dropdown lets you slect MP3. Then click on the Options button in the bottom RHC whereupon you will get an additional dialog box where the Quality dropdown will enable to set the rate you want.

Note that this setting is "sticky" and will remain in force until you reset it - you may want to go back to higher quality for normal exports ...
