I'm having mixed results connecting the phone line to my cpu microphone input . One tape recorder controller works but with a lot of line static (possibly from all the electronics around). The other, connects to the phone handset which doesn't work at all when connected to the mike input.

Both phone controllers work fine on the tape recorder.

Is there any way to connect the phone line directly to mike or line input without a recording control?

PS: I see that Audacity does have a Phone option. Where/How do you connect the phone line?

I believe that's to make a crisp, clear, perfect recording sound like a phone.

No cheap way, no.

Most people cast off the copper phone line in favor of Skype or other on-line telephone service. Then you can buy one of the software packages that allows recording both sides of the conversation on different channels for later production and mixing.

The two top packages, Business and Professional, allow split or combined recording with unlimited production time. If you don't do that, there is no way to correct for a guest with low speaking volume.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check out some of those other options.

I'm still confused with the listing of "Phone" along with all the other input options. Also, I can't find anything in the manual or tutorial that mentions the use of "Phone".
