Record speed
So basically when, for example, I record for exactly 60 seconds, my audacity only records 58 seconds. And since the 60 seconds shrinks to a 58 second recording, the pitch of it also changes a bit. So when I play an E chord, record it, and then play it, it sounds like an F.. Ive looked arround the forums and I didnt find anyone with the same problem. Any help??

Re: Record speed
This may be down to a dodgy clock on your soundcard. I assume you are using the onboard soundcard, right? Most PC manufactures don't spenda lot on the sound services (they basically provide the soundcard for the PC to go beep and make other computery noises -the're not concerned with high quality audio).
You may want to consider using an external soundacrd. See this sticky thread for ones that we know work well with Audacity: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477

Re: Record speed
Well when I record sound using any other program it works just fine.. But Ill try that thanks
Re: Record speed
You can also try changing the default sample rate in Audacity (Edit menu > Preferences > Quality). Recommended settings are 44100 or 48000, but some sound cards are much happier with one than the other.

Re: Record speed
On both my PCs recording 60 secs gives a 60 second correct pitch recording with Audacity.
1) Desktop Dell Dimension 2400 with External Edirol UA-1EX soundcard
2) Laptop Dell Vostro 1710 with on-board Realtek souncard
So I'm still puzzled.
