Audacity Forum

Well, I went to record my voice for a youtube video, so I could edit it and all that stuff. So, I tried recording, but a box popped up. After numerous attempts to try and record, I decided to just restart the program. When I tried to open it again, all I saw was the toolbar with play/stop/pause/record. I could record my voice, but nothing else. I tried reinstalling the program several times but nothing happened. Here's a screenshot in case you're confused:

I think this problem has been fixed in the code, but it may not have reached the current release version yet, so here's a manual fix that should work:

Find the file "audacity.cfg" (it's in a hidden folder, so enable searching for hidden files) and open it in a text editor.
On Vista the file should be in Users<user name>AppDataRoamingAudacity
Find the section that starts with the line "[Window]" and delete that section, then save the file.

If that does not work, delete everything in that file apart from the first line (NewPrefsInitialized=1)
