setting up interface

im very new to recording and cannot figure out how to get my interface working with my computer. i have a line 6 toneport ux2 interface and im trying to run it through audacity but dont really know where to start. any help is appreciated

First see if you can get it to work with the supplied software - there have been reports suggesting that it can be a bit tricky getting Line 6 interfaces working correctly in Audacity, so being familiar with the interface will make the job a lot easier.

External sound cards need to be connected to the computer before opening Audacity.
You need to ensure that you install Windows (MME or WDM) drivers as well as the ASIO drivers - Audacity does not support ASIO drivers.
A good way to check that the interface is working correctly with the Windows drivers is to make a test recording using Windows Sound Recorder.
The settings for selecting the sound card are in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" - if you have the device working with Windows Sound Recorder then it should be pretty easy to set up Audacity.
