Windows 7 64 Bit
I have been using Audacity on Vista 32 bit with no problems. However, I have a new PC with Windows 7 and 64 bit. I downloaded Audacity OK but when I went to set Preferences it hangs up saying the program "Stopped Working". So I have to close it.

Which version of Audacity are you installing? If you are not running 1.3.9 or 1.3.10, try going here:fslyon wrote:I have been using Audacity on Vista 32 bit with no problems. and get the most recent version (even though these are beta versions they may be more likely to run with Windows 7). Other users have reported that running Windows 7 in XP mode helps.
Make sure all of your video drivers are up to date. Make sure to run Windows Update repeatedly until no updates are available. Last week I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows 7 from scratch. Many of the drivers were out of date and numerous Windows Updates needed to be applied. Audacity 1.3.10 runs great here.
