Is it counterproductive to use both filter at same time on one track? The result I get is better (or at least sounds better to me), but would like to know is this a good practice or not.
Thanks!

Re: low pass filter and high pass filter
If it sounds better, then it is good.
It depends completely on what you want the filter to do. A low-pass filter will get rid of high-frequency noise (like hiss or whistle), and a high-pass filter will get rid of low-frequency noise (like hum or rumble). If you have both types of noise, you need both filters.
The problem is that the filters take away the music in those ranges along with the noise, so don't use more than you have to.
