Hi, In setting up Audacity to "Transfering Tapes and Records to Computer" I have clicked Edit-Preferences... and there is no Audio I/O tab, and all the set-up instructions seem to go through this tab. Obviously there is something that I am doing wrong. Is there a step by step set-up that I can use? This is my first attempt to record using Aud 1.3 I am using Windows xp. Many thanks, Roy Windmill

The Preferences layout got updated recently as it was becoming rather messy. The documentation has not caught up yet.

The stuff that was previously on the Audio I/O tab is now on the "Devices" Tab. Audacity will usually set up the correct options automatically, so try the program with all default settings before changing anything.

The settings for default bit depth and sample frequency are on the Quality tab (as before). The default is 32bit 44100Hz which is a good choice for most editing work.

Actually the documention is beginning to catch up a bit.

Here is the page under development from the new manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... references

and this is where clicking on Devices takes you: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... references

Still in draft, as you can see - but being worked on (with thanks to John and Bill) ...
