Hello, somehow being a novice to some degree, I click the wrong place on the toolbard. I am missing the meter tool bar the drop down box that was there as well as anything else that on top.
How to I get those items back, I tried a re-install but it did not help

Thanks, btw I use the wave converter a lot, works well thanks in advance :?:

Wen you re-installed Audacity, did it ask you if you wanted English as your language?

If not, it is still using the configuration file from the previous installation, and this may be corrupted. Find this file , audacity.cfg, and delete it. Then do another re-install.

<<<Then do another re-install.>>>

You may not need that last step.

Close Audacity, delete the cfg file, relaunch Audacity. It should ask you "English?" when it starts.

The meter toolbar is an option under either View or Preferences depending on the Audacity Version. You can turn all the toolbars on and off.

Hello, I searched thru my files and I could not find "cfg" I then deleted audcity from my program files as well as from control panel.

I reinstalled and there box that mention "english" and I am still missing the items I am missing, I might mention that I am using dell home basic and firefox. I thought I read on audacity tips that there was an issue regarding the problem I am having.

Thanks

I think that because AFAIK the audacity.cfg is a "hidden" file - so you need to set your Windows Explorer to show hidden files.

In WE go to Tools > Folder Options amd select the View tab - and check the radio button that says Show hidden files and folders

Thanks WC, under tools, there is no "Folder Options" just options when I click on options I do not see anything related.

I know I have seen the "hidden files" somewhere in my travels, but cannot remember where, could it be somewhere else.

Thanis

Thanks Steve, I found area you wrote, did as told, now should the missing items appear automaticaly or is there another step to be taken. Sorry to a pest on this, but at 74 years of age thought process is a bit slow :D

Once you've deleted the audacity.cfg file, launch Audacity and it should ask you 'English?'
This confirms that you've re-initialised the program, and you should have everything back on the tool bar.
