Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Waves L3 on Audacity?

Post by jiacovino » Tue Oct 13, 2009 5:53 pm

I apologize off the bat if this has already been answered, but I've been searching everywhere with no luck.

I bought Waves L3 which is a maximizer plug-in. I have Pro-Tools, and will install it on that, but I've been having a lot of fun as of late doing my mastering work in Audacity. I'm trying to load the L3 plug-in to Audacity but it won't appear in the effect, generate, or analyze menus.

So far I've...

1. Installed the plug-in on Windows

2. Added the .dll file to the Plug-ins folder

3. Checked "rescan VST effects when you restart Audacity" in the preferences window

4. Restarted Audacity

It says that Waves L3 can be added to any software that supports VST plug-ins. I'm running Audacity 1.3 beta which I heard doesn't require the VST-installer plug-in.

Any information as to why it's not working would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

jiacovino,

It sounds as though you are following the proper steps.

You don't say which version of Audacity beta you are using. There were some important changes made after 1.3.8 to VST plug-ins. So you will want to be on 1.3.9.

Also, you didn't say to which plug-ins directory you added the dll. On my machine that would be to the C:Program FilesAudacity 1.3.9 Beta (Unicode)Plug-Ins directory.

I hope this helps.
