I'm trying to load a .wav file that loads fine in 1.2 ...The popup window says "Error importing - Audacity recognized the type of the file... ...but was unable to import it.
And when I click "help" it says "wma-proprietary"
What does this mean ?
Error Importing a .wav file ?

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Error Importing a .wav file ?
It means you don't have Windows set to show you file extensions. If you did, you'd know that your music.wav file was really music.wma -- a Windows Media highly compressed audio file -- that Audacity doesn't know how to open.
You need to convert the file in Some Other Program before Audacity will edit it.
I think Super or Switch will both convert WMA files to WAV.
