Equalization beyond 20dB

Hey everyone,
I am trying to increase the attenuation of the equalizer beyond 20 db (I will be shooting for the area of 50-70 if possible). I can adjust the axis on the window to allow for this range, but the faders will only extend 20 db up or 20 db down. Any thoughts?

The scrollbars on the left allow for +60 to -120.

Yes, but the faders actually adjusting the equalization only allow you to attenuate 20 dB.

You aren't in Audacity 1.3, are you? I just equalized a short music segment to -60dB.
Where did you get the music from? Pull down this music clip and see if that works. Open it up on a fresh Audacity.

The only way to get what you want is to select the "Draw Curves" option. With this option, you can draw any curve you want from -120 to + 60. Be warned, thought, that if you then switch back to "Graphic EQ", everyplace below -20 will be changed to -20 and above +20 will be changed to +20. To protect against that, be sure to save your drawn curve before changing to Graphic EQ.

Thanks storer. That was my impression. I wanted to ask though, because it would be a nice feature to be able to add equalization via faders beyond 20 db.
