Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Audacity shuts down if you try to run the "Remove Tone" Filter on a long file.

XP Pro SP3, Pentium Dual Core 1.8 2GB RAM. Running the standard Notch Filter does the same thing.

ok, thanks - I've sent an email to one of the developers an email to notify the development team.

I actually got a Windows "This Program needs to close" message with the notch filter. It created a txt document with some technical information. Would you like me to e-mail you- or somebody else -this document?

A bug has recently been identified in Audacity 1.3.10 alpha where Audacity crashes when running some Nyquist plug-ins. You may be describing the same bug. If so, then a bug fix has just been submitted, so the problem may already be fixed. When the next beta version of Audacity is released it may be a good idea for you to test it and see if you can still reproduce the problem.

I still get the problem using 1.3.10. The status bar gets to about 18 seconds (showing about halfway), then the CPU overloads, and I almost can't do anything on the computer at all. Then about 3 minutes later I get the "This program needs to close" dialog.

Something else of note is that my computer will continue to run slow after Audacity is forced quit. And when I go to restart I get a dialog asking to quit a program. It has a long alphanumeric filename and possibly the extension .app. I have never encountered this before I had this problem. Hope this helps.

<<<I still get the problem using 1.3.10.>>>

Just a note. You're not doing production with this, right? You're just testing?

Oh no, I'm playing around doing an LP transfer. I could just use 1.3.4 like I have, but I wanted to try 3.9 and now that I've found a glitch, I'm sure you'd like to know about it.

What is this "Remove Tone" Filter? I've not heard of it before.
