audacity 1.3.9 - FFMPEG - unable to locate after DL

Hello all. I am having an interesting issue with Audacity 1.3.9 on some of my machines.

I have downloaded and installed Audacity 1.3.9 . I then went to the "preferences" and "libraries" to install LAME and FFMPEG. I downloaded those from the link in the menu. LAME installs fine. However, FFMPEG installs, but the program does not locate the library, even though I can "see" the .dll files when I click "browse" and manually search for them.

This is happening on some machines and not others.

I have had this problem on 2 HP desktops running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit with 4GB ram. I also had this problem on an HP desktop running Windows XP Media Center ed, w/ 1.5 GB ram.
I did not have this problem with 2 Sony laptops - 1 running Windows Vista Business 32 bit with 4GB ram, one running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit with 4GB ram.

I'd love to get Audacity up and running with the FFMPEG on the desktops. Any suggestions ?

Audacity 1.3.x and the ffmpeg library have been updated several times recently and are likely to update a few times more in the run-up to Audacity 2.0
Make sure that you have the very latest versions.
Also, make sure that when you search for the ffmpeg library in Audacity that you point Audacity to the version that you have downloaded and not another version (you may have more than one version of the library on your machine - it is probably best to remove any other versions so as to avoid confusion).

I'm seeing a similar problem on an HP laptop. I downloaded latest audacity 1.3.9 and the ffmpeg libs. Installed both, and Audacity will not recognize the ffmpeg libs. I had this working back with 1.3.7, but no luck with new version.

EDIT: OK, I uninstalled Audacity completely, and then re-installed it (v1.3.9) again, rather than "upgrading in place." That fixed my problem. It found the MP3 and FFMPEG libs fine after that. HTH...
