Paste Mix.

I looked around and can't really find info on this but is there a way to paste mix? If you copy audio from one track and paste it to another, it timeshifts the track you're pasting to forwards to make room. But I want it to blend the both together. The program "Wavepad" had such an option. How do I do it here? Thanks!

If you wanted to overwrite rather than insert, you'd draw a region in the track and the paste would overwrite it. When pasting, Audacity inserts at a cursor point, and overwrites in a selection region. Audacity does not yet have Paste Mix. To do what you want to do:

* select the region you want to paste mix into
* Tracks > Add New > Audio Track or Stereo Track as appropriate
* Paste.

Alternatively

* select the region you want to paste mix into
* Edit > Duplicate
* ENTER to deselect the upper track
* Paste

You don't need to mix the two tracks together for either playback or export, but if you prefer, select both tracks and Tracks > Mix and Render.
