Only getting the left channel.
I'm not sure this is the right forum much less the right website but I recently got this cable with two male plugs and when I use it to plug a radio into the microphone jack on the back of my computer and hit record in Audacity, the left side is in both channels. It's sort of like mono, but whenever you convert stereo into mono it mixes both channels. but this just cancels out the right side and replaces it with the left. Both ears get the left channel. I tested this with two computers. One windows (1.3) and the other is Linux (1.2). I don't think this is a problem with Audacity but instead the cable. But what do I do? Thanks!

Change the computer?
<<<microphone jack on the back of my computer>>>
The microphone jack is mono. Usually left-only.

Most computers know that people don't want real mono, so they copy the "Left" signal (the connector tip) to both sides.
Plug the cable into the Line-In of your computer or find the instructions to convert your Mic-In to Line-In. If all that fails, plug your cable into the Line-In of most desk-side computers or almost any Mac.
You can also buy any of the fine USB sound cards available.

Re: Only getting the left channel.
I checked and found a "Line In" jack on both computers. I'm kicking myself for not even trying that one. Thanks a bunch.
