Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Project detected missing audio blockfile (.au)

Post by ColinWard » Sun Aug 09, 2009 2:32 pm

Since I downloaded the latest version, two of my new projects show me this message every time I open them. I also cannot use the Save As function with those same files. Can anyone explain what is happening and if there is a workaround?

Thanks,

Colin :?:

Most people should not be using Projects at all. Audacity will not Save a sound file and that's what a very large number of people think they're getting. File > Export as WAV to get a real sound file.

As for missing au files. did you try to move your project, delete any files, rename anything or change anything on your machine since you saved the Project -- other than installing 1.3? Folder names and locations are burned into the Project and if you change anything, or "Clean Up a Little" you may kill the show.

Do those projects have punctuation marks in the names? A favorite is the slash mark. That drives computers crazy. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, dash, and underscore only. That's it.

My problem is the same as the one in the other thread. I have fixed it by going back to 1.3.7.

No, I like 1.3.8 but I need to solve the problem and move on!
