Re: Recording audio from MSN and Skype chat videos
<<<The volume of the person I'm talking with gets low when we both speak!>>>
That, at least, is normal. Telephone (and video) systems can't keep both sides of the conversation open at the same time because that invites squeeling, feedback and echoes. The computer, hopefully in the background, ducks and manages receive and transmit volume all the time.
It can help if you're both wearing microphone/headsets. It can even help if only one of you is wearing one. SKYPE can't handle two people yelling at their laptops at the same time -- especially if they're some distance apart, say London and Los Angeles.
Also, if you haven't noticed yet, on-line phone calls are late. We warn conferencing people not to interrupt the person talking. It doesn't work and it leads to partial word snippets. "But I..." "You ne...." "Have th...."
If you're addicted to talking over each other, landline telephones do that exceptionally well.

Re: Recording audio from MSN and Skype chat videos
Mmmm... you know, I think you're right about Skype! The volume goes down when two people are speaking at the same time
I was concentrated in trying to record conversations that I didn't realize that that happens also when the Total Recorder virtual device is not set as default audio device, that is, when you normally use Skype
Actually, I don't usually use Skype
However, I have to say that that doesn't happen when making a video chat with MSN! The volume never goes down, even when two are speaking at the same time
BOH!

Re: Recording audio from MSN and Skype chat videos
Wait. When did we start recording video chats?
Some communications programs do allow you to record the transaction, but there's always a hitch. If the software will not let you separate the two sides of the conversation, then you can never do post production. I'm not talking about fancy melodic contouring, noise reduction or anything like that, I'm talking about curing the person on the far end who was really quiet and you could barely hear them. If both sides of the transaction are on the same track, you're dead. You have no show.
Pamela Business and Professional both allow you to record 'you' on the left and 'them' on the right. It's a snap to split them and do careful volume correction and then mix them into one perfectly balanced show.
A lot of internal recordings are only for legal or corporate reasons. Nobody is expecting to derive any enjoyment out of them and they're frequently hard to listen to.

I would be extremely cautious about this download.michle83 wrote:hi to all, i am michle and i found that using MSN 9 you easily record and listen your chat. The small print at the bottom of that web page says: "Disclaimer: LatestMSNmessenger.com is NOT affiliated in any way with Microsoft Corporation."
OK, so if they are nothing to do with Microsoft, who are they? Can I be sure that this download does not contain spyware? This is NOT an official Microsoft release.

I have just submitted this link to McAfee for testing - I echo Steve's advice and would also recommend caution ...stevethefiddle wrote:

Re: Recording audio from MSN and Skype chat videos
I downloaded MSN Messsenger 9 (msn-9.zip) from that site, scanned it with antivirus, it seems just to be Windows Live 2009...
