I successfully record Skype. If you have problems with Skype, you can address to Total Recorder's support (even if you did not purchase the Total Recorder). I wrote to the support a number of times, they answered adequately.
As for Skype, there are number of special software that use Skype's SDK to record Skype. But the Total Recorder is more universal program that allows to record probably any software for Internet-telephony.

Can you tell me what settings you used? Virtual device, etc.
What's your operating system?
Mmmm... I think Total Recorder causes some problems with MSN, too: when I start a video chat, the other sounds (for example, a MP3) is distorted! I had to reinstall the sound driver

Distorted sound probably is result of using Total Recorder's user mode driver (the one of two drivers supplied with Total Recorder).
I uses the following settings.
In Total Recorder (TR):
- In the Options->Settings->Driver dialog. Use kernel mode audio driver. Audio playback and recording devices should be set to your specific devices (in my
case: Realtek HD Audio output and Logitech microphone).
- In the Recording source and parameters dialog. Audio recording source - Software, Record also input stream (Advanced dialog) is on.
In Skype:
- In the Tools->Options->Audio Settings dialog. Total Recorder virtual device is selected in the Microphone and Speakers lists.
With such configuration you can set system default devices to any devices (from system settings depends whether you will be capable to record another applications by TR).
My operating system WinXP SP3, but I also successfully tried to use TR On Windows Vista.

I'm discovering one problem with many packages that doesn't get mentioned. Pamela Business and Professional can be configured to record each conversation on one side of a stereo show. This makes post production a snap as you can apply filters to the individual voices and do a mixdown to a perfectly balanced show. The other two jam the two conversations together and that's life.

How does the Total Recorder solution work?

I am afraid, I did not understand the question enough. I did not familiar with the Pamela (According to description from the Pamela's site, it seems that Pamela uses Skype's SDK).
Total Recorder allows to set that voice of each party of conversation will be put to separate channel of stereo recording. Later you can save a channel to a file, process the file and join processed files into one file.

OK! I tried again and I solved the MSN problem: the Total Recorder virtual device, when is set as default audio device, causes the distorsion of the audio, so, when it's not used, must be disabled

I haven't solved Skype problem instead, I write here again: when I speak, the volume of the voice of the person I'm talking with goes compleately down, I can't hear it anymore! That's a very strange problem!
And then, when I stop recording, Total Recorder crashes!

Can you tell me what version of Skype are you using? I'm using Skype 4

This is not so. "must be disabled" is not necessary if you do not use Total Recorder's user-mode driver. Moreover, you can simply reinstall Total Recorder over existing Total Recorder selecting "do not install user-mode driver".

Indead, a very strange problem. Voice of your interlocutor is low only in recording or while conversation to? Does the problem exsist if you do not use Total Recorder drivers (set in Skype's settings real sound devices to be used)?
Mr Wolf wrote:And then, when I stop recording, Total Recorder crashes!
- Make sure, that you use latest version of Total Recorder (7.1 build 3540).
- Try to update drivers of your real sound board.

3.x under Windows XP, 4.x under Vista (I do not use Skype often, so I do not try to update Skype frequently). But I think, there should not be problems with any versions of Skype.

Well, if Total Recorder virtual device is set as default audio input/output device in Control pannel -> Audio settings, I get that problem, and I must set as default device the audio card of my computer

The problem with Skype is present if I set as input/audio interface the Total Recorder virtual device (just as in MSN): if I don't speak, I can hear the audio from my interlocutor; if I start speaking, the audio from the interlocutor immediately gets low, almost till to disappear, if I well remember
The problem is not present if my audio card is set as input/audio interface

I don't know, when I'll have time maybe I'll try other settings

You can try to address your problem to Total Recorder's support (even if you did not buy Total Recorder).

Very strange problem. I only can suppose that your real sound board (it's drivers) is guilty.

I don't know, I tried on another computer of mine, with the same configuration (XP Professional SP3): I'll be unlucky, but I always the same problem! The volume of the person I'm talking with gets low when we both speak!
