okay i think that solved the problem, however, I'm trying to make the file into a mp3 thing. something that i can download onto a disk. I have the file saved as a project and tried exporting it as an mp3 but it said that I need something else to do that LAME thing and it's not anywhere on my comp. Was i suppose to download this after i downloaded the audacity? Needs help.

Any reason why not export as WAV?
Encoding as MP3 always reduces the sound quality to some extent. 16bit WAV files are perfect for burning to CD.
