Hi,
Yes I know that this has been already discussed but every post ends on that Stereo mix advice. And it is not solution, when stereo mix is unselected/selected , problem still remains.
People say that it is sound card issue and that sound control needs to be adjusted but they never say on what exactly (yea and they are experts) or what to do if user have a Realtek sound card on board or such a like.
Or with that overdub option in preferences, that does not solve this and period.
So my question is what to do in these situation and how to finally end this issue and made this program final solution for multitrack recording as it should be.
P.S. Please post solutions not discussion so that post is easy to read and not like other ones that are not (think of others that seek fast solution).
Thanks.

For a rapid and pertinent reply you will need to describe exactly what the problem is. I can talk about "overdub in multi-track recording" for several hours if there are no other constraints.

Re: Overdub in multitrack recording (1.2 and 1.3 v)
Thanks for reply, but I have already read most of documentation and posts send on this and some other forums and after long surfing and researching I realized that non of the answers are solving issue mentioned above and leave all users with that problem hanging and me as well...
If I was bit not understandable above here is direct translation of problem:
Problem occur when one track recording (or importing) is finished and another track (on same project) is started to record but that new track does not contains (lets say; guitar solo), but it contains amplified recording from first track and somewhere far in background on very low volume that solo what was supposed to be recorded.
How to record only one instrument in track 2 while listening to rhythm on track 1 and that does two sounds do not interfere?
I am recording over line-in (blue) and listening over speakers/headphones (green). Tried over mic but it is useless, it is to slow and sound is horrible.
I am using RealTek sound card on board.

Re: Overdub in multitrack recording (1.2 and 1.3 v)
Do you have an icon for "Windows Mixer" at the bottom of your desktop near to the clock?
If you do, open it and go to the "Recording" section. The selected recording device should be set to "Line in".
In Audacity Preferences on the Audio I/O tab, you should have "overdub - play other tracks while recording new one" selected (checked), and "software playthrough" should not be selected (un-checked).
Realtek sound cards are a problem because they use a non-standard user interface (Realtek control panel) instead of the Windows Mixer, and there are many different versions of the Realtek control panel with the controls laid out in different places. Without actually being able to see the control panel it is very difficult to tell someone which bit to click on.
You did not say if you have a Realtek sound card.
You did not say if you have Windows XP, Vista, NT, ME or some other version. They are all different.
If I have exactly the same computer as you, with all of the same hardware and software, then I can easily tell you exactly what to click on. If your computer is different, but I know exactly what your computer is, then it is a little more difficult, but I can probably still help. If I don't know what you are using or how you have it set up or what your operating system is, then how can anyone give more than very general advice?

Re: Overdub in multitrack recording (1.2 and 1.3 v)
I have Realtek sound device, Win Xp Pro SP3.
Realtek controls are directly connected to win controls and as you modify one it also effects other, at least it is so here by my system.
I have all of this (systray icon, updated drivers, sound codecs, overdub is checked) what You have asked.
Just to ask, what do You mean that Line-in is selected --> does it means that check box at the bottom is checked (mute) or that you somehow select it??...that Is common line in posts like this one and, I can tell You it can really confuse you.
In my case I have recording ability through Line-in and check box in mute is unchecked. As I explained everything works fine except overdub or multitrack recording.
By my opinion, Audacity has some kind of conflict between Line-in and Output channel.

Windows Mixer - Recording settings. Line-in selected.
Select "Preferences" in the Windows Mixer and make sure that ALL inputs are visible.
The ONLY input that should be enabled for recording is the Line-in
